Please explain!

hi please can someone explain this in laymans terms for me coz i be ever got it as a jw and still don't.

it doesn't make sense to me.

bible chronology indicates that god’s kingdom was established in heaven in 1914. this is shown by a prophecy recorded in chapter 4 of the bible book of daniel.. overview of the prophecy.

Freedom Rocks, did you know that it gives great peace of mind when you realise that the stories in the Bible are meaningless. They may have some dubious moral instruction but it usually comes with the threat of "I'll kill you if you don't obey." Great!

Prophecy is a game for idiots. There can be no reliable prophecy anywhere and there never has been any. The prescientific world relied on soothsayers (truthsayers) and auspicious moments to do things. The prescientific world of the Bible, Judaism and Christianity was squarely based on superstition. Therefore any interpretation of the Bible, since it comes from this past unenlightened world, is simply hocus pocus.

The Bible is truly useless as a guide for knowledge or prophecy, it was written to enslave the poor and ignorant-- you can safely chuck it in the waste bin and be assured that it won't come back to bite you.

To mess emotionally with a Jehovah's Witness is to invite disaster into your life.

Truly you would regret getting more deeply involved with this man who is already wrestling with his conscience (if he has one) because sex outside of marriage is a religious offence for JWs.

If you want to remain sunny Sunnybear, please do not listen to the teachings of this paranoid toxic cult and look for an honest partner who instead will put you and your interests above and ahead of his religious obligations.

A spy's life is a lonely one

so i have been awake since about this time in 2013, so about 5 years.

and the craziest thing about it is that now, no one, and i mean no one know's i am an apostate.

meaning, that i don't believe the jw minds set/beliefs at all, and no one knows it.

Level, well done for waking up! I remember the intense frustration of going to the meetings having woken up and in my case already having become an atheist. To watch the illogical drivel and indoctrination being encouraged on the platform made me want to shout out at the stupidity of it all. I held my tongue! So I sympathise with you!

I did enjoy walking out of a meeting half way through never to return to the kh, it was a sweet moment!

I did try and sow seeds of logic like contradicting someone's assertion that the Watchtower is never wrong but the conditioning of JWs is one of social conformity above and beyond reason. JW thinking tramples on logic because it places a greater value on keeping alive the hope of living forever in the panda petting dream world. JWs are permanently egged on to keep believing this pie in the sky nonsense by the witness community which is what JW club membership is all about.

So the difficulty is always finding how to pacify the emotional needs and breaking the social taboos not just exposing the faulty reasoning. This is hard enough but your average JW is almost hard wired to ignore dissent even it it is logical...it's a wonder any of us made it out!

However, sowing seeds of scientific facts (no Adam, no flood) and the errors of JW revisionist history should make a difference, it's probably the best we can do under the circumstances.

You have supplied two very good You tube presentations Brokeback, best seen in sequence, the first explaining “the shadow” and the second how to set about addressing the integration of the shadow with one’s real self resulting in being a happier, self-reliant and a more complete individual.

A JW on the other hand, driven by his or her unthinking Watchtower loyalty is bound to ignore Jung’s wisdom and instead guiltily suppress the dark side of their nature.

They are led to believe that their JW persona is the real self, alas! it is only a functional mask, so conflict ensues.

These wrong attitudes compound their psychic problems and makes them ever more dependent on the leadership. In doing this the Witness is in fact infantilized-- that is, made to remain with child-like characteristics which simultaneously give yet more power to the paternalism of the governing body.

This is how cults operate.

JWs with doubts are led to ask “Where else can I go?” You could try reading Jung for a start.

as blue-eyed (now that's quite english) but as dark skinned.

The Anal Retentive Biblical Jehovah

i would like to sight some examples of a anal retentiveness of the biblical deity.. the garden of eden and the death penalty for eating a fruit, which by the way was passed on to all future offspring requiring an anal retentive jehovah to provide a suitable sacrifice of his only begotten son to correct the situation and thus make it possible for forgiveness from the big guy and remove the death curse.. working on a saturday= death penalty.

mandatory blue thread and fringes on all israelite garments.. death penalty for touching the ark of the covenant to prevent it from tipping over.. exclusive devotion only to be given to him, bowing to other gods/idols forbidden.. grows hot with anger and becomes violently enraged killing off all kinds of human and animal life with a flood when humans not living the way he feels is right.. threatening to tread on mankind like a mighty man crushing grapes under his feet when pissed off.. loss of self control when pissed off over insignificant trifles.

Jehovah is the anal retentive par excellence and in their attempt to be gods themselves the governing body try to be likewise.

I would also add a few other damning characteristics which they exhibit: manipulative, pharisaical, plank in the eyes, hypocritical, deliberately ignorant narcissists.

i invented a friend who became a witness back in the early 1950s, this friend tried to get me to become a witness, because his teachers father (a leader in that congregation) told him that the big a was coming in 5 years (which was true).

As you say FTS, JWs are no longer knowledgeable. Dumbing down is needed because the more educated people are, the more likely to spot the logical errors which the JW religion is built on such as believing that the Bible is the infallible word of God.

There are two new factors to be reckoned with today, the first is that the educational level of the average youngster in the first world is much higher that in the previous generation. Secondly there is the availability of information on any subject at the touch of a few computer keys. This mass of information also accounts for the proliferation of fake news and so it still requires a sceptical approach to learning to sift out the rubbish. Witnesses never use the sensible sceptical approach, they are bludgeoned into being gullible by social pressures within the religion.

JW doctrine does not trade in facts at all just airy fairy beliefs. If one belief no longer fits what is credible, JWs claim new (and presumably divine) light and concoct something which more people will believe more easily. The most pathetic and laughable new light was that when Jesus said "generation" he actually meant "overlapping generations"!

By the way don't you think that this particular "new light" must be the marker for the beginning of the end of the JW religion?

This sort of shifting sands approach to "Truth" will eventually wear thin for the majority of JWs and they will wake up to the fact that the org has no fixed dogma, no truth, no revelation, no credibility or authority.

The JW religion does not represent the future, they think along the lines of a past era, the nineteenth century USA Bible Belt to be precise and surely they must go the way of the dinosaur.

E-mail chains that became doctrine

digimon, pokemon, hello kitty, "waka waka" by shakira... are things that all of a sudden became frowned upon because of a random menopausal jw housewife that read an e-mail chain that said that those things were satanic.

furthermore, we were explicitly warned about pokemon and waka waka from the platform of a district convention.

have you experienced more examples of such mastery of critical thinking?

JW thinking is simplified thinking. Instead of a nuanced appreciation of life's wonders, JW brains have been re-wired to put all ideas into one of two boxes designed by the governing body and they are labelled: GB approved or Satanic.

On top of this childish over-simplification there is the matter of narcissism, the excess of self love to which the governing body attribute all importance to themselves. Notice for example how they have now cornered the market in heavenly rewards! So anything which takes the focus of attention of the flock away from the leadership is bound to be pronounced a bad thing and therefore should be put into the 'Satan' box.
